On Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro? Here’s How We Can Help
More and more of our clients are using GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro, and we think it’s time we talked about it properly.
We’re not here to have any opinion on your health choices that’s entirely your business. But we do want to make sure your treatments are working as well as they possibly can for you, and this is one of those things that genuinely makes a difference.
What’s happening in the body
GLP-1 medications suppress appetite and slow digestion, which for many people leads to significant and fairly rapid weight loss. Alongside the benefits, there are some side effects that are directly relevant to your time in our salon.
Loss of facial volume often called “Ozempic face” is one of the most common,
Beyond volume loss, rapid weight loss on these medications has also been linked to collagen depletion and reduced elastin meaning skin can lose firmness and resilience in ways that go beyond just fat loss. We’re seeing this show up in the salon in how skin feels and responds to treatments.
Reduced appetite can also mean lower intake of key nutrients including protein, B vitamins, vitamin D, iron and magnesium and this has a knock-on effect not just on skin but on hair and nails too. Hair thinning is something many clients notice a few months in, and brittle nails are also increasingly reported alongside GLP-1 use, again largely driven by those nutritional gaps rather than the medication itself.
How this affects your treatments with us
Here’s why this matters when you’re in our chair:
Lash lifts – Lash health is directly tied to nutrition. Deficiencies can make lashes more fragile and less responsive, which impacts results. Knowing you’re on this medication means we can adjust products and timing to protect your lashes properly.
Facial treatments – As facial structure and skin quality change, we may need to adapt our approach to get the best from your skin where it is right now both in terms of technique and the products we use.
Skin treatments – Changes to collagen and elastin mean skin can become less resilient and may need a more considered approach. A heads up means we can tailor the treatment and aftercare accordingly.
Nails – If you’re noticing brittleness or slower growth, this is worth mentioning too. It helps us recommend the right treatments and aftercare to keep your nails in the best condition possible.
Please keep us in the loop
We ask all clients to complete a consultation form, and we update these regularly for exactly this reason. If anything has changed since your last visit including new medication, please mention it. It’s no different to telling us about a new skincare product or a sensitivity. It just helps us do our job properly.
Looking after yourself alongside your treatments
We’ll always leave the medical advice to the professionals, but from a salon perspective, two things make a real visible difference.
Nutrition – When appetite is reduced, nutrient intake drops. Prioritising protein, fibre and vegetables, and filling gaps with good quality supplements, supports how you look and feel throughout treatment. Brittle nails and hair thinning are both common signs that protein intake has fallen so it’s worth paying close attention to.
Resistance training – GLP-1 medication can lead to loss of muscle and bone mass alongside fat. Regular resistance training combined with adequate protein helps preserve lean muscle and support bone health. It also helps maintain structure in the face and body which matters for your treatment results too. It doesn’t need to be intense. Two sessions a week of weights, Pilates or resistance bands makes a real difference.
We always recommend Naked Pharmacy for supplement support a brand we trust and use ourselves. They’ve recently published a really useful piece on GLP-1 side effects and how to support your body through treatment:

If you’re on a GLP-1 medication and want to actively support your skin, here are the treatments we’d point you towards.
NeurotriS – Lifting, sculpting and skin health Our most intensive facial. NeurotriS combines microcurrent technology with fascia release and advanced serum infusion to lift, sculpt and genuinely improve skin health from the inside out. For clients experiencing loss of facial volume, reduced skin firmness or that general flatness that can come with rapid weight loss, this is our go-to. Microcurrent works by re-educating the facial muscles, while the fascia release addresses the deeper structural changes happening beneath the skin. Results are visible and cumulative – the more consistently you come, the better your skin responds.
CellStory – Collagen, texture and skin renewal CellStory uses Microspear® technology – needle-free microneedling to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process, targeting fine lines, uneven texture and loss of radiance. For clients whose skin is showing the effects of collagen and elastin depletion, it’s an effective and completely painless way to get visible results without any downtime. One session makes a difference; a course makes a real one.
Massage – For the face, body and everything in between Never underestimate a good massage. For clients going through significant physical change, regular massage supports circulation, lymphatic drainage and skin condition but it also does something less tangible and equally important. It keeps you connected to your body in a positive way. When your body is changing quickly, that relationship matters. Whether it’s a facial massage as part of your skin treatment or a body massage, it’s one of the most supportive things you can do for yourself throughout this journey.
What you can do at home
Gua sha – for the face Gua sha is a simple, effective tool for anyone experiencing changes in facial tone or puffiness. Used regularly, it stimulates circulation, supports lymphatic drainage and helps maintain facial contour as your face changes shape. It also encourages product absorption, so your skincare works harder. Use it on cleansed skin with a facial oil, working upward and outward with light to medium pressure. Five minutes in the morning makes a noticeable difference over time.
Dry body brushing – for the body As skin loses elasticity during weight loss, dry body brushing is one of the best things you can do at home. It stimulates circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and keeps skin texture smooth as your body changes. It also supports that mind-body connection taking a few minutes each day to look after your skin is a small act of care that adds up. Use a natural bristle brush on dry skin before your shower, always brushing toward the heart. Start gently – your skin will tell you what it needs.

The Anniversary Ritual — our gift to you this April
To mark 19 years, we wanted to create something that felt entirely true to who we are. Not a promotion. Not a discount. Something of genuine value: a treatment that draws on everything we have learned and gives it back to you in the most personal way we know how.
The Anniversary Ritual is a 60-minute bespoke treatment combining the two things we do best: massage and facial therapy. There is no fixed formula. Your therapist will begin by understanding exactly what you need, your skin, your body, what you are carrying that day and build your entire session around that.
It might lean towards massage, releasing tension that has built through the weeks. It might focus on your skin, addressing the particular concerns that spring has surfaced. It might weave both together seamlessly. Your therapist decides. That is the point.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 3D Collagen Facial and who is it suitable for?
The 3D Collagen Facial by Natura Bissé is designed to support firmness, elasticity and skin density. It’s particularly suitable for clients noticing reduced bounce, softening contours or increased dryness. It is ideal from your mid-30s onwards, and especially beneficial during perimenopause and menopause when collagen decline accelerates.
How do I know if my skin is affected by hormonal changes?
Common signs include increased dryness, thinning skin, reduced elasticity, slower healing and a visible loss of firmness. If your usual skincare routine no longer feels as effective as it once did, this can also indicate hormonal influence. A professional consultation helps assess what’s truly happening beneath the surface.
Is the Essential Shock (R)Evolution treatment only for menopausal clients?
While it has been specifically developed to support perimenopausal and menopausal skin, it is suitable for anyone experiencing loss of firmness, density or resilience. The updated formulation focuses on collagen and elastin support, making it ideal for mature or structurally changing skin.
What makes a professional facial more effective than home skincare alone?
Professional treatments allow for deeper stimulation, advanced massage techniques and targeted technologies that cannot be replicated at home. When combined with the correct homecare routine, results are more consistent and longer lasting.
How often should I have a collagen-supporting facial?
For visible, long-term improvement, consistency is key. Many clients benefit from treatments every 4–6 weeks, depending on their skin goals and overall skin health plan. We always tailor frequency recommendations individually.
